Introduction
This institute is popularly known as Govt. Art & Craft Teacher Training Institute and ITI and was started in the year 1975, affiliated with department of Technical Education and Industrial Training Punjab, Chandigarh. It has given many Art & Craft skilled young boys and girls to society. The institute is situated in the heart of the city, adjoining to the Historic Hall Gate of Amritsar(the well known place of Amritsar). The institute is nearly connected with Railway station, Bus stand, Golden Temple and all the important places of city. Now this Institute is known as Govt. Art & Craft Teacher Training Institute and ITI and has started several new trades and put a step forward for importing the training of the youth in new trades.

History
The Institute was started in the year 1975 and is well known Institute of the State. It was earlier known as Govt Art & Crafts institute, Amritsar and was popularly known for its Art & Craft work and students. But now the institute is known as Govt. Art & Craft Training Institute and ITI. Thereafter the institute was upgraded in the year 2011under the Public Private Partnership scheme started by Govt. of India to bridge the gap of industry need and institute training level and several new trades were started.
