History

Before death at Delhi on March 30, 1664 Guru Harkrishan uttered these words Baba Bakala, thereby meaning that his successor was to be found at Bakala village in Amritsar. Baba Bakala Sahib Punjab is a historical Village and Tehsil in the the Amritsar district in East Punjab of India. Baba Bakala is closely associated with the 9th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib. The Guru meditated here for full twenty years. There is a holy Gurudwara Sahib in his memory. Baba Bakala is located at 31.33.18.N 75.1556.E, on Jalandhar-Batala road, in the Amritsar district of Indian Punjab only 40 km from the Amritsar city. Govt. Industrial Training Institute, Baba Bakala is situated on the Beas road. This Institute is functioning since 1976 which was situated in Village before the 2008. The Institute has its own Building for which the land is provided by the Panchayat of Baba Bakala. Intake Capacity of Institute was 64 before the Upgradation . After the Upgradation Intake Capacity is increased to 218. Under the SDI scheme, in the two Sectors 08 courses are registered, in which intake would be minimum 240.
