Introduction
Pawan Kumar Government Industrial Training Institute Gurdaspur was established in 1965 under the aegis of Punjab State Board Of Technical Education and Industrial Training Chandigarh. Since its inception the institute has been imparting goal oriented, quality based and value added education through state of the art technical and non technical resources at par with international standards. With the each passing year PKGITI has evolved as a symbol of quality education dedicated to nurture the talent and aspiration of the dynamic, vibrant and bright youth of our country by providing wholesome learning opportunities and student centered approach incorporating both the traditional and the modern ethos. From the academic as well as on placement perspective PKGITI has been on the forefront. It aims at setting the students on the road that lead them to realize their dreams of reaching the apex of their career. Excellence has always been the hallmark of PKGITI and with a dint of sheer hard work, tremendous growth and laudable achievements it has emerged as an epitome of learning and is setting benchmarks for others to follow.

History
Gurdaspur is a city in the state of Punjab situated in the northwest part of the Republic of India. It is located in the center of and is the administrative head of Gurdaspur District. The Gurdaspur city situated on the Amritsar Jammu National Highway Road 36 km from Pathankot and 32 km from Batala is the district headquarter. All head offices of various departments are situated in this city. The India Pakistan border is at a distance of 10 km from Gurdaspur. The river Beasflows on one side and the river Raavi flows on the other side of Gurdaspur.
The Gurdaspur city was named after the name of Mahant Guriyagi. The EmperorAkbar was crowned at Kalanaur which is 26 km from Gurdaspur city and also Behrampur town is situated at a distance of 10 km where the Mukbara of Bairam Khan is situated. Earlier Dinanagar town was the capital of Maharaja Ranjit Singh which is only 12 km from Gurdaspur city. The famous woolen mill is situated at Dhariwal which is only 12 km from Gurdaspur city.
The institute was established in July 1965 with a capacity of 80 seats with Carpenter Fitter Radio and TV Mech. and Punjabi stenography Trades.
Now the institute is located on Pathankot road. The total area of the campus is 22 Acres . The city is now fully developed having Milk Plant, Small and large scale Industrial units and storage depot etc.
The institute has sanctioned strength of about 700 seats with new modern classes of Electronics (COE), Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Welder, Carpenter, Motor Mechanic, Wireless cum operator electronics,, DMC, DMM, Machinist, Plumber, Diesel Mech., Tractor Mech., Punjabi Steno, Leather Goods, Ref. and A/c, Information Technology etc.
